Welcome to 2B!!! For all my new students entering second grade, here is a list of supplies that should be brought to school:
crayons
thin-tipped markers
1 yellow highlighter
2 thin-tipped dry erase markers
pencils/erasers
glue sticks
scissors
old sock or dry erase board eraser
anti-baacterial wipes(one canister)
3 zip-lock gallon size baggies
box of tissues
Also, here is my summer reading list. Please read (or have a parent read to you) at least two of the books from this list. There will be a project we will do in school in September involving the book of your choice:

500 Book Challenge Goal for Third Grade

If you need more book covers for the group reading goal, please email Ms. Mello and she will send you an attachment for template. Remeber to bring your completed covers on the first day of school as each cover will serve as a ticket when we draw for prizes!

H1N1 Clinic and Dental Program both successful!

Lanesborough School held an H1N1 vaccination clinic on November 16, 2009. The clinic took place in our library where a team of volunteers came in to administer the vaccine. Children were then monitored and checked by an EMT prior to returning to class. We vaccinated 101 students without incident. Children under 10 years of age require a second dose of vaccine. On December 14, 2009 we held our follow-up clinic, 75 students received their second dose. After a short delay in the delivery of vaccine, this clinic also went off without incident. The same day 26 staff members also received the H1N1 vaccine. Thank you to the team members who came to administer the vaccine. To our parent volunteers who walked each child through every step with an adult escort, I extend special thanks. Our clinic was a huge success!

Our dental clinic was held on January 12. The team from the Mobil Dentist Smiles Program

provided xrays, cleanings, and dental sealents right here in the nurses office. Twelve students took part in this fabulous program. We hope to have them back again next year.

Homework Policy

Since students are filtering both in and out of the general education classroom, there are often many assignments and tasks occurring at one time. Our goal is to prioritize assignments and tasks so that each student is given assignments to strengthen their individual needs

Students are given time in school to ask any questions pertaining to homework and assignments. If students are unable to do their homework for the following day, they are to have a note from a parent/guardian so that additional time and assistance may be given. If a student DOES NOT have a note, the student is encouraged to stay during their “free” time to complete any missing assignments.

I am the Title I tutor working with students in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades in need of extra support in math as well as provide reading intervention for kindergarteners and second graders. My responsibilities also include administration of the DIBELS reading assessment program and family involvement activities for all grade levels.
